TOURNAMENTS
FUN: The main objective of any sport is to have some fun, especially at this
level.  If we do not make wrestling a fun experience, children are going to
choose easier, less challenging sports.

RESPECT & DISCIPLINE: Don't let the words scare you.  Is it ever
too early to teach youngsters respect and discipline?  Wrestling requires
both.  We will not accept horseplay, teasing or any conduct that will detract
from practice.

EDUCATION: Wrestling requires that the individual wrestler become
educated in their sport.  Practice is where the wrestler learns the art of
wrestling.

FUNDAMENTALS: We have focused on fundamentals.  The
objective is to build a sound foundation.  The little things form the basics for
advanced movement.

COMPETITION: We will try to introduce these concepts: winning as a
goal; winning with humility and losing with dignity.  The goal is to introduce the
children to competition, to learn that the challenge is the fun part, that the
biggest adversary in this sport is not the other guy, but oneself.  It is not easy
going out there alone. The goal at this level is to get comfortable with
competition.

CONDITIONING: Wrestling is a great sport to build strength, speed,
agility and flexibility.  Again, our goal is to lay the foundation for this
development.

TEAM: While wrestling is the greatest individual sport, it is also a team
sport.  Our goal is to begin to show the children that they are part of a team.
We want them to make friends, to watch and support their teammates.  By the
end of the season, the children will refer to this group as their "TEAM".
